As Amazon’s super “hero” series The Boys gears up for its fourth season, we’re getting little bits of exciting news about what’s on the horizon — and today’s seen some very interesting and queer-inclusive casting updates. Specifically, the show is adding two new supes to the mix: Sister Sage, played by Orange is the New Black star Susan Heyward, and Firecracker, portrayed by out pansexual actor Valorie Curry.

Curry first came out via Instagram in 2019 in celebration of National Coming Out Day. “I’ve posted a lot in the last year without saying anything directly, so here goes: I’m a queer woman. For a long time, I identified as bisexual, but now that I have the language and the understanding, pansexual feels more authentic (and who wouldn’t want to be associated with Pan?). I’m mostly femme presenting, though not particularly femme-identifying, and my gender expression is increasingly fluid. I expect all of these labels will be fluid, as we keep finding new ways to be and new language to describe ourselves,” she wrote. “I hope this world can change, because I know from experience that people can change. We are who we are, but we do not have to be what we have learned.”

Also announced was that Cameron Crovetti, who plays Homelander’s son Ryan and closed out season three on a very dark trajectory, has been bumped up to series regular. In other words, it’s a safe bet we’re going to see some very, very troubling father and son bonding time. We’re guessing there’s going to be a lot of dismemberment.

But they won’t be the only characters giving us that dark humorous thrill that The Boys does oh-so-well. According to showrunner Eric Kripke, we’re going to want to keep an eye on our newest supes, even though it might get disturbing.

“These new Supes are some of the best & craziest ever written for #TheBoys. You are going to love them,” he wrote on Twitter following the casting announcement. “And by love,” he clarified, “I mean be absolutely horrified & a tiny bit nauseous.”

We can’t wait.
