LAKE WORTH BEACH — Actress Cindy Morgan, best known for portraying blonde-haired bombshell Lacey Underall in the 1980 comedy “Caddyshack," died late last month at her home in Lake Worth Beach.

She was 72.

In a media advisory, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said deputies went to Morgan’s home in the 1200 block of 13th Avenue North on Dec. 30 to meet with a woman who said she was Morgan’s roommate. The woman said she had just returned from a holiday visit and had not seen Morgan since her return.

The roommate had knocked on Morgan’s door but received no response, “and thought there was a strong odor coming from her room.” The roommate last saw Morgan alive on Dec. 19.

Deputies entered Morgan’s room and found her deceased. No foul play is suspected, the sheriff's office said.

Morgan’s final social media post on X was made Dec. 21. Other sources reported her age as 69, but the sheriff's office has her birthdate as Sept. 29, 1951.

Morgan was born Cynthia Ann Cichorski in Chicago. According to a story posted by the Los Angeles Times, Morgan first gained notice as a model who appeared in commercials for Irish Spring soap. “Caddyshack,” which starred Bill Murray, was her feature film debut as the attractive niece of Judge Smails, played by Ted Knight.

“It was the longest and best party I’ve ever attended,” she said of the filming of the cult classic.

In a 2012 interview, Morgan said of her role: "’Caddyshack’ was my first film and I'll say that the end product was so completely different. It was originally about the caddies. So at first, I had nothing to lose to audition. It was fun. All I did was focus on making the person sweat. Look 'em in the eye, do that thing many women know how to ..."

Morgan was also known for her roles in “Tron,” a cult sci-fi classic released in 1982. In that film, Morgan played a computer programmer named Lora as well as Yori, a digital counterpart.

In recent years, Morgan was a regular attendee at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, signing autographs and posing for pictures with her fans.

According to her IMBD biography, Morgan studied communications at Northern Illinois University, and after graduation worked as a weather broadcaster at a TV station in Rockford, Ill. She returned to Chicago as a deejay at a rock station, then moved to Los Angeles in 1978, where she landed the Irish Spring commercial.

She studied acting while doing commercials, and won her "Caddyshack" role in 1980.
