Actress, husband make $7.5 million gift to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for addiction clinic
A Hollywood actress known for starring in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her husband have made a $7.5 million gift to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and a clinic for patients struggling with addiction has been named in their honor, the hospital announced Wednesday.
The Eliza Dushku Palandjian and Peter Palandjian Bridge Clinic “provides compassionate, expert care for patients and families struggling with addiction while fueling cutting-edge research to provide better treatment options,” the hospital said in a statement. The gift to the Brigham “will help advance care, research, and education for substance use disorders and support innovative leadership at the hospital.”
Both Dushku Palandjian and her husband were instrumental in the launch and growth of the clinic, the hospital said.
“Our gift is about honoring, supporting, and inviting in everyone who might come to the clinic,” Eliza Dushku Palandjian said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to support the committed professionals who treat addiction with a multidisciplinary approach using evidence-based sciences together with holistic integration. These principles have benefited me in my own recovery.”
Dushku Palandjian has spoken publicly about her own battle with alcoholism and drug addiction, according to several reports. She is currently deep in her master’s degree studies in clinical mental health with a concentration in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, the hospital said. Her husband, Peter Palandjian, is CEO of Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, headquartered in Boston.
