“Hacks” star Jean Smart is hoping to inspire others during National Heart Month by revealing that she is recovering from a procedure.

“February is American Heart Month — a time when the nation spotlights heart health — so it feels important to share with all of you that I am recovering from a recent, successful heart procedure,” the Designing Woman, 71, wrote Thursday.

“I am fortunate to have excellent professional care and support from family and friends while I continue to recuperate. Please listen to your body and talk to your doctor — I’m glad I did!”

Smart, who has won several awards for her portrayal of a longtime Las Vegas comedian in “Hacks,” is also a contender in this weekend’s SAG awards.

“Hacks” has paused production while she recovers.

“We are so happy that our beloved Jean Smart’s heart procedure was successful and she’s on the mend,” HBO Max and producer Universal Television said in a statement, sending “well wishes.”

Smart did not detail her condition or procedure, but has in the past been open about having Type-1 diabetes, a diagnosis she got at age 13. That is one risk factor for heart disease, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Heart disease is the number one-cause of death for Americans, according to the American Heart Association. It kills about 697,000 people of all races, genders and ethnic groups in the U.S. each year, the CDC says.

Smart’s revelation comes two years after her husband, character actor Richard Gilliland, died of a heart attack at 71.
