Acworth Alderman Tim Richardson holds off challenger
Nov. 3—Acworth's Tim Richardson, the six-term alderman for the city's Post 4, looks to have secured himself another four years Tuesday night with a victory over challenger Kimberly Haase.
Unofficial results from Cobb County elections show Richardson earned 853 votes, or 53.6%, to Haase's 736 votes (43.3%) in the city's only contested election this year.
Incumbent Post 5 Alderman Tim Houston and Mayor Tommy Allegood, meanwhile, cruised to reelection without opponents. They received 1,419 and 1,412 votes, respectively.
Haase, founder of iLoveKare Senior Concierge Services, said on her campaign website she'd hoped to support services like parks and mental health programs, increase local youth engagement and keep unemployment low by growing the city's diverse business community.
Those aspirations, however, weren't enough to best Richardson, who touted the success of the city's downtown redevelopment in his calls to "Keep Acworth on Track."
The remaining three posts on the city's Board of Aldermen were not up for reelection this year.
All elections results are unofficial until they are certified by the Cobb County Board of Elections on Nov. 8.
