Ada coroner identifies passenger killed in U.S. 95 head-on crash near Midvale, Idaho

The Ada County coroner identified the man who died following a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 95 south of Midvale on Monday morning.

Adrian Adolfo Lechuga, 40, was the injured passenger taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise along with the 47-year-old driver of a silver Dodge minivan. Lechuga was pronounced dead at the hospital about 2 1/2 hours after the Monday collision, which occurred just before 8 a.m. in Washington County, the coroner’s office said in a death notice issued Thursday.

The driver, listed as a Nampa man, and Lechuga were headed northbound on the highway about 3 miles south of Midvale when their vehicle crossed left of center, Idaho State Police said in a news release. The crash remains under investigation.

The silver minivan in which Lechuga was the lone passenger hit head-on with a blue Dodge minivan traveling southbound on U.S. 95. It was driven by a 51-year-old Midvale woman who had a 23-year-old male passenger from Logan, Utah, state police said. They were both injured and taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital, according to ISP.

All of the individuals involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts, police said.

Authorities reopened U.S. 95 at the site of the crash at about 11:15 p.m., after it blocked the highway for about 3 hours.
