The twin brother of Adam Perkins has asked people to stop asking how the viral Vine star died.
Perkins, best known for his “Welcome to Chili’s” video, died aged 24 on Sunday (11 April). No cause of death was disclosed at the time.
In the wake of the internet star’s death, his twin brother, Patrick Perkins, has said that a cause of death will not be made public.
Responding to several Instagram messages, Patrick has repeatedly declined to reveal how his brother died.
In one response, he wrote: “Think I need to take this opportunity to explain something to you: If the cause of death is not released, there is a reason… There is intention in every part of this.
“Please respect both of us by not asking that question… not sure how it’s not obvious that I didn’t say for a reason. Everything in this is intentional. Please respect that.”
In a second response, Patrick told followers: “While I won’t go into specifics, I can assure you that he went just about as peacefully as you can.”
Patrick confirmed in an emotional Instagram post shared on Tuesday evening (13 April) that his brother had died on 11 April, writing that he had lost his “best friend”.
Perkins became a viral sensation in 2015 after posting a three-second video in which he walked into a bathroom in his boxers and said: “Hi, welcome to Chili’s.”
The clip, which mocked adverts for the American restaurant chain Chili’s, was watched more than 20 million times in 2015.
The Texas-based chain was among those who paid tribute to the Vine creator following news of his death.
A post on the official Chili’s Twitter page reads: “We are saddened by the news of Adam Perkins passing. He brought laughter to so many of us and will always be remembered and cherished. Rest In Peace, Adam.”
