Oct. 24—Adam Sandler returned to his hometown on Saturday to perform before a packed house at the SNHU Arena.

"Hometown welcome was exceptional," Sandler wrote on Facebook. "Can't thank you enough for making it so special. Love you all and won't forget that night."

He thanked the crowd for singing "Happy Birthday" to his mother, Judy.

The star of "Happy Gilmore" and "The Wedding Singer" graduated from Manchester High School Central in 1984.

Fellow comedian and friend Rob Schneider ended up being the "surprise guest" for the night to open for Sandler.

Greg Kretschmar, host of Greg and the Morning Buzz on Rock 101, called the show a "perfect mix of silly, weird, raunch and sincerity. He paid homage to Manchester and NH throughout the night and you could tell how much he loved it."
