It may seem insane to think of Severance star Adam Scott as a high-school bully, but that's exactly what he was on the '90s teen sitcom Boy Meets World. Well, for four episodes at least.

Scott had just barely entered his twenties when he guest-starred as the mischievous Griff Hawkins. Hawkins was an... interesting kind of bully. He arranged ticketed fights between the students, forged college acceptance letters, and even paid other kids to go to class in his place. When the Boy Meets World's recurring school bully, Harley Keiner, returned, Hawkins walks off screen and never appeared on the series again. It was one of the earliest roles in Scott's career.

Appearing on Pod Meets World, a Boy Meets World rewatch podcast featuring members of the cast, Scott brought up a moment from his brief days on the series—which has, apparently, tormented him for years since he left: an awkward hug. The incident occurred, according to Scott, at the Season Two wrap-up party, where he felt like the odd man out among a bunch of younger actors like Rider Strong. “I go in and hug you,” Scott told Strong, “and as I do that, you push me off, and you give me this look like, ‘Wait a second, who the fuck are you?’ And then you run away.”

And yet, the painful moment that had burrowed into the back of Scott’s mind for nearly 30 years was all imagined. “Are you serious?” Strong asked. “Why would I do that?!” Scott responded that it felt like “he was a little kid, and I was some stranger grown up.” But Strong had absolutely zero recollection of the event. “I’m so glad you don’t remember that,” Scott responds, fully relieved. “To some extent, that means it wasn’t a traumatic experience for you.”

Lucky for Scott—or unlucky for Strong, depending on how you look at it—his character Shawn Hunter fared much more traumatic events throughout the series than a hug from your coworker. Remember when witches almost sacrificed him in Season Five? Crazy.
