Add 3B Yandy Diaz wherever available in fantasy

Chris Crawford details why the weak fantasy depth at the third base position means improved relevance for Yandy Diaz.

- The third base position is not exactly loaded with quality performers right now, which is why it makes very little sense that Yandy Diaz is available in the overwhelming majority of leagues. He's hitting .299 with a .412 on base percentage over 261 at-bats. And things have been even better as of late.

And by better, we're talking about a player that over the last 15 days has hit .471/.500/.647 with nine doubles in 51 at-bats. Yeah, that'll work. The right-hander doesn't have the atypical power of a corner infielder, as he just has three homers in his first 311 plate appearances and he ranks at the bottom-10 percentile in barrels. The other metrics, however, are impressive.

He ranks in the 90th percentile or higher in expected batting average, strikeout percentage, walk percentage, whiff rate, and chase rate, with an average exit velocity just below, in the 89th percentile. If you're looking for round-trippers look elsewhere. But Diaz is scorching hot right now, and it's hard to imagine that he can't help you on the hot corner.
