Owner Jerry Jones said the Dallas Cowboys are going all-in to put a winner on the field in 2024 in what is a make-or-break season for coach Mike McCarthy in the last year of his contract.

What we know so far is that the team is casting a wide net in its search for a new defensive coordinator to replace Dan Quinn, who became coach of the Washington Commanders.

The search now the includes three former head coaches and a widely coveted in-house assistant.

And the Cowboys seemingly aren’t done yet.

After interviewing former Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera on Monday and former Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on Tuesday, the Cowboys have now interviewed former New York Jets and New England Patriots coach Rex Ryan.

The interview list also includes Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde, who also recently interviewed with the Seattle Seahawks for their defensive coordinator opening.

And the team is hoping to speak with former New York Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale about interviewing for the position.

Martindale is a potential candidate for the same job at the University of Michigan.

There is no timetable for an immediate decision.

Ryan, always known for strong defenses dating back to his days as the coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens, coached the Jets for six seasons, taking them to two AFC Championship Games while going 46-50 over six seasons.

He was 15-16 with the Bills before being fired in 2016 and has worked as ESPN analyst for the last seven years.

Ryan’s brother, Rob Ryan, was the Cowboys defensive coordinator from 2011 to 2012.
