CHRIS CRAWFORD: Leody Taveras was once considered among the top outfield prospects in baseball, but the results just haven't been there. Haven't been there until now, anyway. In 30 games since being called up in June, Taveras is slashing a sensational .341, .367, .553 with three homers and five steals in his 90 at-bats. Now this comes after posting a career OPS of .570 in his first 82 games of action. So it's understandable to be skeptical of a hot fifth of a season.

But that skepticism shouldn't keep you from adding him to your fantasy roster if you're needing help in the outfield. Keep in mind that Taveras is all of 23 years of age, and we have seen plenty of young players struggle in their first taste of MLB action, and he's one of the fastest players in baseball, ranking in the 97th percentile in sprint speed. It also appears he's tapped into the power potential everyone has been waiting for. Taveras can't be this good all year, but he doesn't have to be to provide fantasy relevance. Correct the mistake if he's still available in your league.
