Adelanto man arrested after fatal hit-and-run traffic collision near Hwy. 395
A 34-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of fleeing after fatally striking a motorcyclist with his vehicle near Highway 395 in Adelanto.
Leejon Tolliver of Adelanto remained at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on Thursday, with bail set at $100,000, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s booking records showed.
Tolliver is scheduled to appear on Friday in Victorville Superior Court, sheriff’s officials reported.
The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at 8:11 p.m. on Wednesday, a 29-year-man from Victorville was driving a 2021 Harley Street Bob Motorcycle westbound on Palmdale Road, east of Pearmain Street.
The area is west of Hwy. 395 and near the Stater Bros. shopping center.
During that time, Tolliver was driving a silver 2014 Dodge Durango when he stopped at the Pearmain Street / Palmdale Road intersection preparing to turn east onto Palmdale Road.
Tolliver then turned onto Palmdale Road in front of the Harley driver, and a collision occurred.
The motorcycle driver was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville where he was pronounced dead at 8:55 p.m. due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Tolliver fled the scene of the collision prior to deputies arriving, but was subsequently located during the investigation.
Tolliver was arrested for hit-and-run. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the collision, sheriff’s officials said.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification.
