Musical artist Adele is promoting her new album 30 and the release of her single “Easy On Me.” The 33-year-old singer made an appearance on Capital Breakfast to talk about both and was asked if she ever played her music for other artists to get some feedback. The answer is that she rarely does, but she played the whole album first for her good friend Drake.

“I played it to Drake last year when he was in town,” she explained. “And I was like ‘is this what people want, or not want?’ And he said ‘absolutely’ but that’s it really.”

She continued, “Drake’s obviously incredible and amazing as well as being my mate, but I don’t send it around to various people being like ‘can I get your thoughts on this?...It’s always about how it makes me feel, quality control is my forté, and I can write a song about my own experiences and my own life. People certainly aren’t waiting for a club banger from me.”

Drake must have liked what he heard, because he posted an Instagram story featuring a photo of Adele to shout out her new single, writing, “One of my best friends in the world just dropped a single.”

Adele has been very supportive of Drake's music as well, saying in an Instagram Live session that his latest album Certified Lover Boy is her favorite album of the year.

It's not clear exactly when the two met and became friends, but in 2018, Adele tweeted about attending a Drake concert and loving it. He subsequently posted her tweet to Instagram, saying he couldn't believe she'd been there.

“Thank god nobody told me I would have been SHOOK,” he wrote.

Then, in 2019, she was a guest at Drake's epic birthday party.

“Today I woke up and looked at my phone and realized how much positive energy and how many unbreakable bonds I have in my life from incredible people,” Drake wrote of his birthday photos, one of which feature Adele laughing together.
