ELG Veterans Program Nov. 10 will feature 2012 graduate

Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District will hold a Veterans Day Program at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 in the high school’s gymnasium.

The High School Band and Chorus will perform a few selections for the event, which will also include speeches and poetry readings from high school students.

Guest speaker for the program is retired U.S. Army National Guardsman Alex Miller. Miller is a 2012 graduate of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School. His tour was served in Jalalabad, near the Pakistan border, and his unit was attached to the Special Operations Command. There, they supported the day-to-day operations of the Navy SEALS and the Army Rangers.

Miller has since attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance as well as economics. He then went on to start AEM Construction, which is a home-building and land-developing company.

His speech will cover his time in Afghanistan and the Army National Guard. He will also discuss some of the lessons learned as a young man who turned 21 in a faraway war.
