CHILLICOTHE — Adena Health System has opened up its 39th location with its second Chillicothe urgent care.

Adena held a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday to celebrate its new urgent care location at 1470 N. Bridge St.

The 6,400 square-foot facility, located at the formed Little Caesars, shares a space with Rural King and offers acute care for illnesses like flu, colds, cough, strep throat and more, COVID-19 testing, sports physicals, X-ray services, outpatient laboratory services and more.

This is Adena's sixth urgent care and the second Chillicothe urgent care, following the Western Avenue location. Kathy Edrington, Chief Operating Officer for Adena Health System, said the medical center outgrew its first location.

"Adena has been very focused on the care of our communities that we serve and our Western Avenue location has seen more than 77,000 patients a year," Edrington said. "It is very important that we were able to get this site open for our communities to have a North urgent care."

Medical Director Dane Black said Adena has opened three urgent care facilities in the last couple of years. He said the new facility will help take the strain off of the Western Avenue location and will provide a more convenient center for people in Northern Chillicothe.

"Adena is always about the community and truly Bridge Street is the lifeblood and the connection to our community and to our hospital," Black said. Our mission with this is to really keep pressure off of the emergency room, especially for the non-emergent visits."

Jeff Graham, Adena President and CEO, said the new location has 10 exam rooms, as well as diagnostics and laboratory services. Black said the center is currently using about 1/8 of the available space, so there is plenty of room for expansion if necessary.

The urgent care officially opened its doors on Wednesday. The Bridge Street urgent care will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the Western Avenue's will change its hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
