Update: Field Museum and Adler Planetarium will close due to winter storm

The Adler Planetarium on the Museum Campus announced Wednesday that it would close Friday and Saturday due to the winter storm watch for Chicago.

The full announcement: Due to forecasted snowy and blizzard-like weather conditions, along with dangerously cold temperatures in the Chicagoland area, and recognizing that the safety of our guests and staff are our highest priority, the Adler Planetarium will be closed for public business hours on Friday, December 23, and Saturday, December 24, 2022. We will also be closed as scheduled on Sunday, December 25, Christmas day.

The Adler will reopen for its normal hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26.

On Thursday, the neighboring Field Museum also announced a closure due to weather.

According to their announcement: The Field Museum will close early at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 and remain closed on Friday, Dec. 23 due to extreme weather conditions. The Field Museum will also close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 (last entry at 2 p.m.) and will be closed on Christmas Day as previously scheduled.

The Field also said it would reopen for regular hours Monday.
