Over at a dual event on Thursday, the Tigers left with a 2-0 mark with wins over Gilbert (45-24) and Greene County (54-24).

On a night that was littered with empty opponent sheets, the Tigers had just one team member win two matchups. Aiden Flora (152 pounds) won by fall in the first period against both of his opponents.

Kadin O’Connor (160) and Karver Sutton (220) each won against Gilbert but drew auto-victories against Greene County. Multiple Tigers including 2022 state tournament participant Jacob Alexander had a night of rest without an available opponent.

Boys Basketball (2-3)

After losing their first two games of the season by buzzer-beaters, the Tigers won back-to-back games, most recently Dec. 6 against Gilbert (2-2) to get their first conference win of the season.

Playing a big part of that win, Vince Benetti was at the center of virtually every play as his hands grabbed a school record 18 rebounds. That only led to eight points himself but more importantly created opportunities for his supporting cast, as Adam Bryte put together a string of 17 points and six assists. Bennett Holmberg made his presence known with 12 points.

That big win gave the Tigers some swagger going into their game Friday with Bondurant-Farrar (4-0), ADM head coach Trevor Mickelson told Dallas County News, but the Bluejays proved too hot, leading to a 62-47 loss for the Tigers.

“They hit us early in the mouth and got up 16-0 at one point. We kind of settled in and played well and we got it down to six,” Mickelson recounted.

Now with a 2-3 record, Mickelson said he sees the next week of games as a vital moment for his team to find its identity and prove they belong among the top of the Raccoon River this season.

Girls Basketball (4-3)

The Tigers maintained a winning record, sitting one game above .500 after splitting their last two games.

Getting their first RRC win of the season, ADM defended their court with a 52-41 win over Gilbert (3-1) as the visiting Tigers had no answer for Nicole Storck whose 21 points extended her double-digit scoring streak to a career-best 21 points.

That streak was put to rest the next game against Bondurant-Farrar (1-2) as she was limited to four points, but led the team with five rebounds. Cameran Smith was the team’s scoring leader, posting 13 points, followed by Addison Banse’s 10 points.

Raccoon River Wrestling

Competing Saturday on the border, the joint team making up the Raccoon River-Northwest girls wrestling team placed third of 32 teams at the Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic. Leading the 14 girl roster, Katie Bischoglia (100 pounds) and Aleah Johnson (190) took first place prizes.

Going 5-0 for the day including two falls won within the first minute, and a title match win by tech fall, Biscoglia is now a perfect 15-0 to start the season. Johnson had two two losses earlier in the year but now stands at 16-2 thanks to winning her four matchups. All but her final round were decided in the first period.

Also getting into the title round, Calista Rodish (120) finished in second place. Winning six straight rounds, Rodish was finally tripped up under the spotlight in a loss to an undefeated opponent. She now sits at 18-2 for the season.

Scoring the next-most points for the Raccoon River, Liv Halfpap won her first consolation round with a 47-second pin, setting herself up for a sixth place finish.
