ADM track and field competes at Drake, boys golf adds more wins

The ADM boys and girls track and field teams had a number of athletes compete at the Drake Relays over the weekend with a number of strong finishes.

Leading the girls was sophomore London Warmuth, who placed second overall in the high jump with a jump of 5-06.

Junior Makayla Crannell also had a strong day individually, placing fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.53 seconds.

The Tigers’ relay teams all finished well. The 4x200 relay team placed fourth, the 4x100 team finished fifth, the sprint medley team grabbed 18th and the 4x400 team finished 20th overall at the meet.

On the boys’ side, junior Zach Lohmann was the top individual finisher, placing 14th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.09 seconds. ADM’s 4x100 relay team placed 13th at the meet while its 4x400 relay team grabbed 15th.

Both teams will next compete at the Raccoon River Conference meet at 4 p.m. May 3 at Carroll High School.

Boys golf adds more wins

The ADM boys golf team remained atop the conference standings with a pair of invite wins this past week.

The Tigers began the week by competing in the Monarch Invitational on April 24, defeating three other teams with a team score of 313.

Sophomore Grant Jansen led the team, finishing first at the meet with a score of 73, while junior Finn Garton followed with a second-place finish with a score of 76.

ADM then competed in the Racoon River Triangular against Winterset and Boone, defeating both teams with a team score of 150.

The Tigers were led by sophomore Carter Madison, who placed first with a score of 36, while Jansen grabbed second with a score of 37. Junior Grant Hickey and Garton also finished well, with Hickey placing third with a score of 38 and and Garton scoring a 39.

Girls soccer remains strong

The ADM girls soccer team continued its strong by winning both of its games last week, extending its win streak to four.

The Tigers opened the week against Des Moines Roosevelt on April 24, winning 6-0.

ADM was led by sophomore Jada Grove, who scored three goals in the win. Junior Tatum Schmitz, sophomore Josi Dufoe and freshman Haley James also each scored in the game. Senior goalkeeper Dani Person made six saves in the win to keep a clean sheet.

The Tigers followed the win with a defeat over Winterset on April 27, winning 2-0. Grove scored once again, with junior Helen Kirk also putting one in the back of the net. Person had another strong game in the goal, making nine saves in the win.

ADM will try to stay strong when the Tigers take on Ballard at 7 p.m. May 9 at Ballard Middle School.

Boys soccer competes in tournament

The ADM boys soccer team had a solid weekend competing at the Pella Tournament on April 29.

The Tigers began the tournament playing Pella, winning 2-1. ADM was led by sophomore Brock Richardson, who scored both goals in the win, while junior Carson Kay added an assist.

The Tigers then faced Hudson, defeating the Pirates 5-0.

ADM spread the wealth in the win, with Richardson, senior Chase Grove, juniors Owen Kirk and Peyton Meier and freshman Cael Orban all scoring a goal. Junior Skyler Hammers and freshman Owen Royer each played half the game in goal, recording a save each to keep a clean sheet.

The Tigers will look to remain strong when they take on Boone at 5:30 p.m. May 4 at Boone High School.
