Adrian College men's lacrosse wins third straight

ADRIAN — The Adrian College men's lacrosse team won its third-straight game, and second-straight allowing one goal, as it beat Hanover, 9-1 on Saturday.

Hanover scored the opening goal, but it was all Bulldogs (7-2) the rest of the way as it led 5-1 at the half and shutout Hanover in the second half.

Chris French scored three goals for Adrian while Brett Koczenasz scored two and Michael Jonas and Peyton Gasche each had a goal and an assist.

Travis Fox had two assists while Jake Coakley and Owen Kelly each had a goal.

Sam Spangler made 10 saves in the win.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Siena Heights 20, Lourdes 5: At Adrian, the Saints moved to 3-5 on the season and 2-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play as they beat the Gray Wolves.

Marissa Cirino led the way for SHU as she scored six goals and assisted on three others while Courtney Frankfurth had five goals.

Alexis Nicole scored three goals while Emily Pringle had two goals and four assists and Hannah Merrick had two goals and two assists. Madison Spell had two goals.

Lucy Stedam made four saves.

Adrian 13, Thomas More 9: At Crestview Hills, Ky., the Bulldogs pulled above .500 with a non-conference road win against Thomas More.

Adrian (4-3) got out to a big start as it led 8-2 after the first period, but it was down to 9-5 going into the half.

Olive Stevens scored six goals and had two assists while Carlee Casteel scored three and added two assists.

Brooke Barabas and Joscelyn Porter each had two goals while Zoe Webber had two assists.

Jordan Hunt made eight saves in the win

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Siena Heights 3, Mount Vernon Nazarene 2: At Adrian, the Saints capped off the regular season with a five-set WHAC win, 25-27, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 15-12.

SHU (15-6, 9-5 WHAC) had to battle back after falling behind 2-1 with Ramon Matos leading the way once again with 26 kills, six digs, five blocks, an ace and an assist.

Alex Garavalia had a strong game as well with 13 kills and four digs.

Zak Tucker directed the attack with 54 assists, 12 digs and five blocks while Joudiel Poveymirow had 21 digs.

The Saints will play in the WHAC tournament Friday at Indiana Tech.

MEN'S TENNIS

Adrian 8, Olivet 1: At Olivet, the Bulldogs picked up a win as they moved to 6-5 on the season.

Adrian swept the doubles matches with Ryan Cuddy and Brandon Falk winning at No. 1, 8-4, Whitman Hopper and Sebastian Smith winning at No. 2, 8-6, and Jackson Wilcox and Darren Walter winning at No. 3, 8-0.

Cuddy then won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, while Smith won at No. 3, 6-3, 6-7, 1-0(7-0). Zachary Perry won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0, while Hopper won at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2, and Gabriel Hankey won at No. 6, 7-5, 1-6, 1-0(10-0).
