Adrian girls soccer falls to Coldwater

ADRIAN —The Adrian girls soccer team kicked off its season Tuesday as the Maples fell to Coldwater, 1-0.

Adrian and the Cardinals were scoreless at the half.

Onsted 4, Bronson 2: At Bronson, the Wildcats opened the season on a high note, going on the road and topping Bronson in a non-conference win.

Bailey Brandly had all four goals for Onsted with Liz Hill getting two assists while the other two were on penalty kicks.

Maddalynn Zellen was strong in net, making seven saves in the victory.

BASEBALL

Onsted 14, Britton Deerfield 1, 5 inn.: At Onsted, Lincoln Lipinski had a strong start to the season as he picked up the win on the mound and a pair of hits at the plate.

On the hill, Lipinski went four innings and gave up one run and one hit while striking out 10 and walking three.

At the plate, he went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two walks. Brody Giroux went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and stole three bases.

JT Hill had a hit, RBI, a stolen base and scored two runs while Logan Klotz drove in two runs on a hit.

Noah McRoberts had one of two hits for the Patriots while Nico Johnson drew two walks. Gavin Schroen went two innings and struck out one while Johnson went 1 1/3 innings and struck out two.

SOFTBALL

Onsted 16, Britton Deerfield 6, 5 inn.: At Onsted, the Wildcats posted a nine-run fifth inning to pick up the win in the season opener.

Jordyn Taylor went three innings and gave up one hit and one run while striking out three as she got the win in relief.

Ashlynn Wilson and Kaylee Rankin each had two hits with Rankin hitting a triple and Wilson hitting a double. Ashleigh Smith drove in three runs on a double.

Sydnee Hazlett got the start for the Patriots as she went four innings as she gave up eight runs, on seven hits and no walks while striking out five.
