Adrian Post 275, Blissfield Post 325 play in Battle for Omaha, Dirtbags play tough week

It was a busy weekend for area summer baseball teams as Adrian Post 275 and Blissfield Post 325 American Legion went to Omaha, Nebraska while Adrian Dirtbags 18-under was in state.

The Blissfield Post 325 went 3-2 in the Battle for Omaha while Adrian Post 275 went 2-3.

The Dirtbags began a busy week with a 2-0 loss to 5 Tool Baseball Club in Fowlerville on Thursday.

Jobe Benschoter (Tecumseh) tossed a complete game in the loss, giving up two first inning runs and shutting out the team the rest of the way. He struck out nine and gave up nine hits and three walks.

Adrian was held to two hits, a pair of singles from Jacob Burns (Tecumseh) and Quinn Hiram (Onsted).

On Friday, the Dirtbags fell to Legacy Alamant Adidas, 7-3, and beat Precision Patriots, 7-3 at Spring Arbor University.

In the win, Lincoln Lipinski (Onsted) got the start and tossed four shutout innings, walking four and striking out four. Ryan Tschirhart (Clinton) finished the game, giving up three hits, walking two and striking out three.

Tschirhart added a double to his day while Harrison Moore (Onsted) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Broc Shoemaker took the loss as he went five innings and gave up seven runs, five earned, on six hits and three strikeouts.

Burns went 2-for-3 with a triple while Camren Lackey (Vandercook Lake) went 2-for-2.

In the team's final game of the week against Concordia, the Dirtbags fell 11-3 to Metro Detroit Little Caesar's baseball club.

Walker Claiborne (Madison) went 3 2/3 innings and gave up 10 runs, seven earned. He struck out four and walked four.

Moore had another strong game at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two steals.

Adrian will compete next week in the I-94 Classic, held at Albion College, Olivet College and Kalamazoo College Thursday through Saturday.

Adrian Post 275's annual Vets Night game will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Nicolay Field where it'll host Blissfield Post 325 after the two return from Omaha.
