MOUNT HOLLY — Adriana Agosto is surfing the pipeline.

Ther Rancocas Valley senior guard is set to join a procession of South Jersey players at Alvernia University. After graduation, Agosto will enroll at Alvernia University to play basketball alongside four other area players, including two former Red Devils, Kylie Bradford and Kayla Williams.

“I played with those girls, especially Kylie, for a couple years,” Agosto said. “When I went out there and I found out that they were over there, I felt comfortable. All the girls were very outgoing. They made me feel at home. They were interested in me and showing me that I had a real opportunity.”

Madison Miskar, of Williamstown, and Timber Creek grad Taylor Meagher round out the Golden Wolves’ South Jersey contingent. That’s quite a foothold into central Pennsylvania for Agosto to lean on. It makes a difference.

“It's kind of far from here, but the environment feels like home,” Agosto said. “It's like it’s closer. I have the girls that played here. I'm not really missing anything. Home is already over there, too.”

Any coach will tell you that wins and losses are secondary to seeing their players move through life and be successful. A small part of that is continuing their athletic careers in college. To send three players to the same school takes that to another level.

“Anytime that you can go and continue to do something that you love and get an education with it, it’s a win,” Red Devils coach Anthony Corrado said. “We've been fortunate to send a couple of girls to the same school so you know, that helps her get comfortable in the program right away> She's got two people already that she's played with.

“I'm thrilled for Adriana because I know that something that she said wanted, when I first met her as a freshman. She wanted to play at the next level that's going to happen for her. That's a great feeling as a coach knowing that your kids moving on and you know that they're going to represent their town and their school.”

For now, Agosto is focusing her efforts on leading her teammates. She’s been a fixture for the Red Devils since she was a freshman. Her teammates are learning the varsity game on the fly.

“She's been our best player arguably, for the last three years,” Corrado said. “She's got a lot of responsibility to shoot trying to lead a relatively young group. Even our seniors that we do have don't have that caliber of experience that she does.

“We put a lot of pressure on her and every night there's a bull's eye on her back. She finds a way to compete and go at it. She doesn't back down from anybody.”

That quality is the one her teammates revere most. Maximum effort. Full accountability. No excuses. That’s Agosto.

“I'm the only experienced player that's on the floor right now because our team is very young,” Agosto said. “I kind of have to just step up and be the leader, be the role model. I don't have a problem with that. It's not like I haven't been put in that position before.”
