Adult content provider wants to sponsor Heat's home

A company that produces adult internet content announced Thursday that it submitted a bid to purchase the naming rights to the Miami Heat's arena.

BangBros, a South Florida-based maker of sexually explicit videos, tweeted that it filed a $10 million bid to replace American Airlines as title sponsor of the county-owned arena located off Biscayne Bay.

On Wednesday, Miami-Dade County announced that American Airlines decided against renegotiating its naming rights deal that expires next year. The airline has been the arena's title sponsor since it opened on December 31, 1999.

The county said it was in talks with national companies to purchase the naming rights at a higher price than the previous $2 million-a-year deal.

Apprised off the offer submitted by BangBros, a spokesman for Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez told the Miami Herald, "Seriously?"

It's unlikely the county, team or the NBA would take the bid seriously.

BangBros announced that it would change the arena's name to BangBros Center, which it would abbreviate to "the BBC."
