Marion County prosecutors on Tuesday charged Purdue University Associate Professor Robert Givan with two counts of incest.

The adult daughters of Purdue University Associate Professor Robert Givan accused him of molesting them since they were in third grade, according to allegations in a probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday with two counts of incest.

Each recounted memories of Givan molesting them on various occasions, according to the affidavit.

Givan, 58, is a computer engineering professor who has been with the university since August 1997.

"All five of my children, including my twin daughters, have been raised in a thoroughly loving and nourishing environment by all involved parents," Givan said in a written statement to the Journal & Courier.

"I have never had any form of inappropriate relationship with any minor or any form of non-consensual relationship with anyone, and I am innocent of any such charges," Givan stated.

The affidavit states that Givan blamed the women's psychological therapy for implanting or twisting memories.

Asked for comment about Givan's status and whether he has been sanctioned because of the charges, Purdue University spokesmen Tim Doty said the university does not have any information about criminal charges against Givan.
