Good morning. I'm Cameron Knight, a breaking news and crime reporter for The Enquirer.I've spent the past eight years covering gun violence in Cincinnati and the hundreds of people who have worked tirelessly to combat it. There have been numerous programs and plans and millions of dollars spent trying to save lives, so when a new plan comes to town my first question is, "How is this different?"In the case of Advance Peace – a new program that was brought before Cincinnati leaders – I found several things that set it apart. It targets active gun offenders and offers them an 18-month fellowship to turn their lives around. The fellowship includes pay for meeting life goals, travel and a full host of wraparound social services.Advance Peace also separates itself from law enforcement and allows participants to remain anonymous. Founder DeVone Boggan said this is the only way to reach the people they are trying to help, those deeply entrenched in street life. Read more about the "highly promising" program here.
