Adventist Health to rent out portion of Roseville HQ as many employees opt for hybrid work

Since remote and hybrid work has reduced the number of employees coming into the office, Adventist Health is looking for tenants to fill about a floor of office space in its Roseville corporate headquarters.

“Like other companies, Adventist Health has navigated changes to the work environment over the past few years,” said Joyce Newmyer, the company’s chief people officer. “We are committed to growing a collaborative experience for our Roseville teams as we continue the important work of our hospitals and clinics, while sharing our beautiful space with other companies that appreciate the building’s benefits.”

Adventist moved all of its HQ employees into the five-story, 275,000-square-foot building at One Adventist Health Way in 2019. The company spent about $100 million to build it.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many office buildings closed to employees because of stay-home orders and workers had to get their jobs done from home. While pandemic-era health orders ended, many people have not wanted to return to daily commutes to the office, and employers are determining what works with their business needs.

Companies around the nation have seen the number of workers coming into the office on a daily basis plummet over the last three years. Kastle Systems, which sells smart technology to secure building entries, said that about half the number of authorized employees in 10 major markets. had scanned into offices in the week ending April 19, compared with 99% the week ending Feb. 12, 2020.

In San Francisco, office usage was down to 44% a week ago; in San Jose, 38.8%.

Adventist officials said they consolidated their workforce into other areas of the building and are looking for “like-minded companies seeking a collaborative workspace.” Jones Lang Lasalle are the leasing agents.

The campus was designed with community health, sustainability and human well-being in mind, Adventist officials said. It has earned LEED certification, which recognizes leadership in energy and environmental design, and has met WELL building standards, according to a company news release.
