Spanish police saluted beachgoers in the coastal town of Chipiona for practicing social distancing while enjoying the sun on July 25.
“Gracias,” wrote Policía Local Chipiona on an official Facebook page, along with this video showing a popular beach in the town, located along the Atlantic coast in Cadiz province.
According to local reports, several beaches in the area have had to limit access recently after reaching full capacity.
Local authorities are trying to balance the need for income from tourism in coastal areas, while attempting to prevent new outbreaks of the coronavirus. Spain, one of Europe’s hardest hit countries, has seen new cases rise to over 900 per day as of July 24, up from a daily average of only 132 in June. Credit: Policía Local de Chipiona via Storyful
