Aerial Footage Shows COVID-19 Field Hospital in New York's Central Park

Aerial footage captured April 3 shows the strange sight of a field hospital set up in New York’s Central Park, as Christian aid organization Samaritan’s Purse operated a COVID-19 crisis-response facility to help overburdened area hospitals.

Construction on the facility — comprising 14 tents and including 68 beds — began on Sunday, March 29, and the hospital opened on April 1 to assist the Mount Sinai Health System.

As of April 5, Samaritan’s Purse said they had admitted 40 patients, four of whom were in intensive care at the time of writing. Five were discharged, the group said.
