Aerial Units Fight Dixie Fire in Northern California

More than 3,800 personnel from the US and Canada were continuing to wage battle against the Dixie Fire in Northern California as of Saturday, September 4, fire officials said, more than 50 days after it broke out on July 13.

Footage released by Lassen National Forest on Friday shows two Canadair “Super Scoopers” dropping water on an area of the fire south of Milford that day.

“Nearly a half million gallons were dropped on that part of fire,” forest officials tweeted.

As of September 4, the fire had grown to 885,954 acres (approximately 1,384 square miles) and was 55 percent contained, officials said. Credit: Lassen NF via Storyful
