Will Aerosmith 'Walk This Way' to Knoxville? We might not have to 'Dream On' for long

Is Aerosmith coming to Knoxville on its farewell tour?

Thompson-Boling Arena hinted as much on April 27 when its Twitter account posted a photo of the Rock on the University of Tennessee campus sporting the rock band's winged logo and the words "Peace Out," accompanied by the enigmatic promise "Big news headed your way next week..."

Aerosmith.com is displaying a countdown clock with no specific explanation, but various media outlets were referring to rumors that the band would announce in early May its "Peace Out Farewell" tour.

Founded in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts, the band has played Knoxville before, at least as far back as an October 1975 show at Knoxville Civic Coliseum with special guests R.E.O. Speedwagon and Ted Nugent, according to a News Sentinel ad for that show's $5.50 tickets.

In December 2003, Aerosmith not only played at Thompson-Boling Arena, the band played a double-bill with KISS, which just so happens to have its own "End of the Road Tour" scheduled to stop in Knoxville for a show Nov. 24.
