AEW to pay tribute to Brodie Lee on Homecoming Dynamite

AEW will pay tribute to the late Brodie Lee on their special 'Homecoming' edition of Dynamite this Wednesday (January 10).

Lee passed away on December 26, 2020, at the age of 41 after battling a rare lung condition. He had previously worked in WWE as Wyatt Family member Luke Harper.

The 'Homecoming' Dynamite will air live from Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida, which was AEW's weekly home during the pandemic.

The show will feature two eight-person tag matches in tribute to Lee, the first seeing Lance Archer, Brian Cage, and The Gates of Agony take on Orange Cassidy, Dustin Rhodes, Adam Copeland, and Preston Vance.

From the women's division, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, Willow Nightingale, and Anna Jay will team against Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Saraya, and Ruby Soho.

Announcing the matches on X, AEW CEO Tony Khan wrote: "Being back at Daily's Place, AEW Dynamite will recognize Brodie Lee because he was the dominant figure of AEW's Daily's Place era. Anna Jay and Preston Vance were Brodie's handpicked protégés, and they'll team with fan favorites representing many eras of AEW this Wednesday."

This week's Dynamite will also see a Texas Tornado match with Sting and Darby Allin taking on Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs.

Ricky Starks versus Sammy Guevara and Claudio Castagnoli versus Hangman Page will also take place on the show.

During his short time in AEW, Lee became the second-ever holder of the TNT Championship after defeating inaugural champ Cody Rhodes. Following his passing, the red strap version of the TNT belt which Lee held was retired.

Lee's son Brodie, known as Negative One, was signed to an AEW contract in December 2020 at just eight years old. Brodie frequently appears on TV alongside his father's faction The Dark Order.
