‘He’s afraid of me’ – Wilder calls Ukraine’s heavyweight champ Usyk a coward to goad him into title fight

Wilder says that he is eager to step into the ring with Usyk, but according to an ESNEWS report on YouTube, he accuses the Ukrainian boxer of avoiding a bout with him.

“I’m all for this fight, but he’s not just a little afraid, he’s very afraid,” said Wilder.

“I’m in the business, so I know a lot of things. I’m ready to go (for this fight) at any given moment and place.”

Usyk won Olympic gold for Ukraine at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, United Kingdom, and is the former undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world. He was named the world’s best boxer in 2022 by The Ring magazine.

Wilder lost the WBC world heavyweight belt to Tyson Fury in the second of a memorable trilogy of fights with current WBC heavyweight champion, Fury.

Wilder also criticized Fury for his excessive financial demands, which led to the cancellation of Fury’s fight with Usyk.

Wilder says he refrains from imposing unreasonable demands like Fury.

“We’re all risking our lives, so let us all get a piece of the pay,” the boxer said.

Earlier reports indicated that following the cancellation of the Usyk-Fury fight, Wilder’s team expressed their readiness to face the Ukrainian boxer. Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, has also boasted that his protégé would knock out Usyk before the sixth round.
