Russian social media accounts are widely sharing video footage of a presumed Ukrainian strike on a military airfield in occupied Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhya Oblast, carried out with U.S.-supplied ATACMS ballistic missiles on Oct. 17.

The video shows several fires and what looks like secondary detonations of ammunition stored at the site.

The unidentified Russian soldier who shot the video can be heard asserting that indeed an ammunition depot at the airfield was on fire.

Earlier on Oct. 17, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces confirmed that a Ukrainian strike targeted the Berdyansk airfield, reportedly damaging nine Russian helicopters, specialized military equipment, and an ammunition warehouse.

Besides Berdyansk, another Russian airfield near occupied Luhansk was attacked simultaneously.

Russian Telegram channels covering the war described the strike as “one of the most serious blows” since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
