Afternoon Briefing: Vigil planned for Barrington student killed by Metra train

Good afternoon, Chicago.

A vigil is planned for tonight to honor the life of Marin Lacson, the 17-year-old Barrington High School student killed after being struck by a Metra commuter train on her way to school.

According to Metra spokesman Michael Gilles, the incident happened around 7:45 a.m. as the train, on the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line, was approaching the Barrington station for a regularly scheduled stop in the northwest suburb.
