Damage has been reported in Orange after a storm that led to the National Weather Service issuing a brief warning late afternoon Thursday.

The NWS in Boston and Norton issued a tornado warning for Northern Worcester County area that involved the Leominster, Fitchburg and Gardner areas.

The Orange Fire Department said in a statement that multiple crews were working with trees and wires down throughout the town.

Residents were instructed to take cover immediately, move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor and avoid windows. People who are outdoors, in a mobile home or in a vehicle should move to the closest substantial shelter.

Franklin and Middlesex Counties were also in the target areas.
