Court finds Federal Way gun store in contempt of court

A Federal Way gun store has been found in contempt of court amid an ongoing legal battle with state Attorney General Bob Ferguson.

Ferguson sued Federal Way Discount Guns in December 2022 for illegally selling high-capacity magazines to undercover agents.

Over the course of the four visits to the store, investigators purchased:

  • A 50-round drum magazine.

  • Two 30-round magazines for an AR-15-style rifle.

  • A 33-round magazine for a Glock 17 pistol.

  • A 22-round Glock pistol magazine.

  • A 19-round magazine for a Glock 19 pistol.

  • A 17-round magazine for a Glock 17 pistol.

  • A 17-round magazine for a Glock 19 pistol.

  • A 17-round magazine for a Sig Sauer P229 pistol.

A King County court said the store intentionally violated an injunction issued last month, blocking them from selling those magazines.

With the store being found in contempt of court, the owners will now have to provide information about the magazine sales and pay for an independent audit.
