Local agencies giving away free back-to-school supplies to Erie-area students

It's almost that time of year again.

With some Erie County school districts set to return to the classroom in a month, local agencies and businesses are stepping up to alleviate the cost of school supplies and more.

CelebrateErie

  • Free haircuts will be set up between South Park Row and East Seventh Street, Aug. 19-20 from noon - 6 p.m. For more information go to celebrateerie.com.

Odessa's Place

  • School supplies giveaway at Odessa's Place, 626 W. 18th St., Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Children must be present at the event. For information, call 814-899-3457.

Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network

  • School supplies giveaway at Three Sisters Park, 430 W. 19th St., Aug. 26 from 1 - 4 p.m. Children must be present at the event. For information, call 814-454-7814.

  • Free haircuts, clothing and school supplies for youth 12-20 at the Erie Art Museum, 20 E. Fifth St., Aug. 28 from noon - 4 p.m. Those who plan to attend must register and indicate if requesting a time slot with one of the hair stylists at comptonstable.org under the "Styling Events" tab.
