Here’s a roundup of what local elected leaders will talk about during public meetings this week.

Lane County Board of Commissioners

To watch: County meetings stream at bit.ly/LaneCounty-meetings.

To comment: When there's a chance to comment, people must register for the meeting. After registering, they'll get information for how to attend. There will be instructions during the meeting for speaking during public hearings and making public comment.

People also can email diana.jones@lanecountyor.gov with public comment by noon Monday. The subject line should include "PUBLIC COMMENT FOR MEETING DATE 11/30/2021."

MORNING SESSION

When: 9 a.m. Tuesday

What: Commissioners will listen and respond to public comment then consider the consent calendar.

The board will consider tentative agreements with AFSCME Local 2831 for the general and nurses units.

They'll also set public hearings for an order to surrender portions of roads in Florence to the city and an ordinance to amend floodplain maps in Springfield

Commissioners will get an update on progress with initiatives to help the unhoused and address the homelessness crisis.

They'll also get a report back from the Public Health Advisory Committee on polystyrene food service containers, which are Styrofoam or similar.

The board will then discuss updates to the county counsel's employment agreement.

AFTERNOON SESSION

When: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday

What: Commissioners will first convene as the Board of Public Health to hold a second reading and public hearing for a potential eviction moratorium.

When: 9 a.m. Wednesday

What: Commissioners and county leadership will hold a strategic planning retreat.

EVENING PUBLIC HEARINGS

When: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday

What: Commissioners will continue the public hearings for redistricting and could vote on a new map for district boundaries or decide to hold a third reading in December.
