Agents of SHIELD season 7 spoilers follow.

Agents of SHIELD's next episode will feature another blast from the past.

In the trailer for season 7 episode 8 'After, Before', Melinda May and Elena 'Yo-Yo' Rodriguez are looking for Jiaying – Daisy's mother and the main antagonist of the second season.

Jiaying is later seen in Afterlife. Although the promo doesn't make clear how Jiaying is back, it seems more likely that the team has travelled back in time to a point before Jiaying's death at the end of season 2 rather than the character being resurrected.

The other interesting detail is the fact that Jiaying here does not have any scars – perhaps providing another clue as to which time period May and Yo-Yo have ended up in.

The last time we saw Jiaying, she tried to kill her daughter Daisy after her ultimate plan to rid the world of humans was thwarted. Daisy's father Calvin Zabo intervened and killed her.

The ABC show is building up to its series finale, and Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy, recently said that she thinks the ending will be satisfying.

"This is not a Game of Thrones situation. I think fans will be very satisfied with the way that the show ends," she said of the final season.

Agents of SHIELD season seven continues on Wednesday, July 15 on ABC in the US. A UK release date for season seven has yet to be confirmed.
