Aggravated assault suspect wanted by Columbus Police Department

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A man is wanted in connection to a shooting near a convenience store on Fort Benning Road, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Police say Gary Louis Walker, 46, has warrants out for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Walker is described as standing at 6’3″ and weighing about 210lbs. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

The warrant stems back to Friday, May 3 at 7:20 p.m. when Columbus police were called to the 1500 block of Fort Benning Road. Upon arriving, officers found Darrin Huntley had been shot multiple times.

Huntley was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he underwent surgery. According to Columbus police, Huntley is listed as critical but stable.
