Road reopened after aggressive bees guarded downed tree in Forward Township
A road in Forward Township was shut down due to a downed tree that was being guarded by a swarm of aggressive bees, complicating removal efforts.
The tree fell on Rainbow Run Road, Route 136, at the intersection of Kelly Hollow Road, according to the Elizabeth Township Police Department. An aggressive swarm of bees was guarding the tree, and the department is working on getting a crew to remove it.
A member of the Gallatin Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department told Channel 11 firefighters trying to cut the tree were attacked by the bees and several were stung.
Further complicating matters, the department said PennDOT won’t remove it because the tree is touching a Verizon line and Verizon won’t remove it because it’s touching a road.
PennDOT was the organization who removed the tree.
