AHA Launches 2021 San Diego Go Red for Women campaign

San Diego, CA, February 7, 2021 - The American Heart Association kicked off American Heart Month and its 2021 San Diego Go Red for Women campaign Friday, February 5th with the annual Lighting Ceremony at UC San Diego Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center.

This year’s illumination was done quietly, without an audience, as San Diegans continue all efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

A number of businesses/landmarks across the Greater San Diego area joined UC San Diego Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center in Going Red in support of the campaign, including the San Diego Convention Center, Hilton San Diego Gaslamp, One America Plaza, Sheraton Marina, Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center, and Petco Park. Most locations will remain illuminated in red throughout the month.

February’s Go Red for Women campaign concludes with the 2021 San Diego Go Red Digital Experience, Friday, February 26. The Digital Experience is the celebratory event for the American Heart Association’s annual Go Red campaign. We encourage you to join to celebrate and support the American Heart Association mission. The digital experience features:

  • Inspirational stories

  • Health and wellness tips and breaks

  • Revealing the inaugural class of the San Diego Women of Impact and Teens of Impact

  • And much more!

By supporting Go Red, you inspire women to make healthy lifestyle changes, mobilize communities, and shape policies to save lives. And you make it possible for more women to receive the lifesaving information they need about their risk for heart disease and stroke and empower them to live stronger, healthier lives.

Go Red for Women is brought to San Diego by VEBA, and is locally sponsored by Mission Federal Credit Union and UC San Diego Health. Media sponsors include CBS8 and Univision San Diego.
