The Alabama State High School Association 2022 state baseball championship event is moving from Montgomery to Jacksonville and Oxford, the organization announced Tuesday.
The decision was made due to scheduling conflicts Paterson Field and Riverwalk Stadium, per a press release.
"We appreciate the city of Montgomery and the cities of Oxford and Jacksonville and Jacksonville State University for working with us," AHSAA executive director Alvin Briggs said in a statement.
The baseball championships will be held at Oxford's Choccolocco Park and Jacksonville State's Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium. Choccolocco Park will host the first game in all seven championship series, with Jacksonville State hosting the final two games.
The state finals are set for May 16-21.
This is the second time in the last two years that Montgomery has lost a spring AHSAA state championship. Lagoon Park was scheduled to host the 2021 state softball tournament, which was moved to Oxford.
The organization also announced that the Southwest Regional in boys and girls basketball will be changing locations in Montgomery. It will not be held at Alabama State's Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
The Cramton Bowl Multiplex will host the Southwest Regional for Class 2A, 3A, 5A and 6A, with Garrett Coliseum hosting 1A, 4A and 7A. In addition, Garrett Coliseum will host the entirety of the Southeast Regional.
The regionals will take place from Feb. 17-24.
