Aidy Bryant is seriously funny, but when it comes to Arizona's 2022 midterm election, she's just serious.

Well, mostly.

Bryant, from Phoenix, made a short video endorsing Katie Hobbs, the Democratic candidate for Arizona governor, which Hobbs shared on her Twitter page Monday afternoon. Bryant also slams Kari Lake, the Republican candidate.

And Bryant does get serious about it — after an opening joke.

“Hi, my name is Aidy Bryant,” she begins, “and I’m probably best known for, in the ’90s, being a member of the Phoenix Girls Choir.”

Of course Bryant was on “Saturday Night Live” for 10 years before leaving the show after last season. She also starred in — and received an Emmy nomination — for the comedy “Shrill.”

No debate: CNN's interview with Katie Hobbs and Kari Lake was essential TV

Bryant's video for Hobbs is (mostly) all business

From there the video is all business. Bryant says she and her family are from Arizona and, “I love it deeply, which is why I believe that Katie Hobbs should be our governor.”

Bryant also criticizes Lake in the 51-second video.

“There’s a lot of important stuff on the ballot, including reproductive rights,” Bryant says. “But also, when you look at Kari Lake, I think Arizona’s decency is on the ballot.”

She goes on to say that she hopes Arizona voters will choose Hobbs.

It’s no surprise that the Arizona gubernatorial race is getting a lot of national attention. There are stories daily, particularly about Lake, who has emerged as a MAGA star.

This intense focus will only increase as the election draws closer. So, probably, will the endorsements and pleas to vote for one candidate or another.

What a mess: How PBS botched Katie Hobbs-Kari Lake debate drama

Trump endorses Lake; Obama supports Hobbs

Lake has gotten the endorsement of Donald Trump. Barack Obama doesn’t use the literal e-word, but in a video he says, “Arizona needs a governor like Katie Hobbs.” That’s pretty close.

Whether a John Rich concert for Lake or Mark Hamill tweet saying it’s a mistake for Hobbs to skip out on a debate with Lake have any effect is hard to quantify. Though when Luke Skywalker is complaining about your campaign strategy, the Force is not strong with you.

Trump’s endorsement means the most, since his followers are the most likely to fall in line with whomever he tells them to vote for. But every little bit helps.

Probably. We’re about to find out.
