Aiken County election board certifies 2022 primary results

Jun. 16—The Aiken County election board has certified Tuesday's primary election results.

The board held its certification vote Thursday morning and didn't receive any protests ahead of the certification.

There were few reported issues during the election; however, results were slow to come in Tuesday evening due to issues with closing out some machines.

Locally, S.C. Rep. Bart Blackwell, R-Aiken, won the Republican nomination in House District 81.

Three men won the Republican nomination to Aiken County Council seats: Ron Felder, Mike Kellems and incumbent Sandy Haskell.

In all four instances, the Republican nominee faces no general election opposition.

Two statewide elections will be decided in a June 28 runoff: the Republican nominee for state superintendent of education and the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
