Aiken County Public Library events for the month of May

Apr. 28---- Adult French Conversation will be held at 2 p.m. May 5, 12, 19 and 26. This is for people who can speak French at an intermediate to advanced level. For more information or to register, call the circulation desk at 803-642-2020 ext. 2.

— Coloring for Grown Ups will be held at 2 p.m. May 2 and 16 in the Creative Lab on the first floor. Bring coloring pencils and felt pens. Coloring sheets and refreshments will be provided. Sign up at the reference desk or call 803-642-2020, ext. 3.

— A presentation on Martha Kitchings Seawright Ellison will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6. Dr. Watler Curry will give a presentation on his ancestor followed by a question and answer session and a book signing. For more information, visit abbe-lib.org.

— A Free Law Talk Brief Topic Overview and Q&A with a volunteer attorney will be held at 6 p.m. May 18. The library has partnered with the South Carolina Bar to host a series of free sessions with volunteer attorneys. Topics will be "End of Life." Those who plan to attend should register at the reference desk at 803-642-2020 ext. 3.

— A Book Club meets on the third and fourth Tuesday of the month in the first floor meeting room from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Group A meets May 23 and will discuss "The Paris Library" by Janet Sklesian Charles. Group B meets May 16 and will discuss "The Codebreakers Secret" by Sarah Ackerman. Sign up at the information desk on the second floor. 803-642-2020, ext. 3.

— A Spring Sing will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. May 20. Singer-songwriter Cathy Benedetto will play songs on guitar that celebrate Spring and Nature. Lyrics and refreshments wil be provided. For more information, visit abbe-lib.org.

— Play & Learn will be held from 10 a.m. to noon May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 23. Ages 0-5 are invited to drop in and learn through play while caregivers learn ways to promote early literacy. For more information, visit abbe.lib.org.

— A Star Wars Scavenger Hunt will be held May 4-11. Children can go on a scavenger hunt to find Star Wars characters around the library during business hours. For more information, visit abbe-lib.org.

— "80 For Brady," rated PG-13, will be shown at 2 p.m. May 27 in the first-floor meeting room. The movie is inspired by the true story of four best friends and New England Patriots fans who take a life-changing trip to Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play, and the chaos that ensues as they navigate the wilds of the biggest sporting event in the country.

— "Living," rated PG-13, will she shown at 4 p.m. May 24 in the first-floor meeting room. The story of an ordinary man, reduced by years of oppressive office routine to a shadow existence, who at the eleventh hour makes a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something wonderful.

The Aiken County Public Library is at 314 Chesterfield St. S.W. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. It is closed on Sundays. The library will be closed on Monday, May 29, for Memorial Day.
