Aiken man dead after being shot multiple times

The Aiken County Coroner's Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Aiken on Tuesday.

Kenneth Jones, 46, of Aiken, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

Just before 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to shots fired near Sumter Street and Sundy Avenue in Aiken, according to a news release.

Officers found Jones in the front yard of an abandoned home on the 600 block of SundyAvenue, according to the release.

Jones will be autopsied Thursday afternoon in Newberry, South Carolina, according to the coroner's office.

The coroner's office and ADPS are continuing with the investigation, according to the release.
