Aiken man pronounced dead after being found with a stab wound in a New Ellenton residence

Dec. 26—An Aiken man was pronounced dead after being found with a stab wound in a New Ellenton residence Monday morning.

Officers from the New Ellenton Police Department and Aiken County Sheriff's Office found Kennard A. Thomas, 32, of Aiken, at 1:28 a.m. after responding to a residence in the 500 block of Camel Street in reference to a stabbing victim.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said Thomas was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Augusta University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The autopsy of Thomas's body is expected to be conducted Thursday morning in Newberry.

The situation remains under investigation by the Aiken County Coroner's Office and the New Ellenton Police Department.
