Aiken Public Safety investigating fatal hit-and-run collision

Jul. 1—The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Friday, July 1. Killed was Aiken resident Michale A. Jackson, 34, according to a report from the Aiken County Coroner's Office.

According to a Facebook post from the department, at approximately 12:52 a.m., ADPS officers responded to a call about a collision near the intersection of Beams Road and Laurens Street that resulted in Jackson's death. It is believed that the vehicle that struck him is a side-by-side ATV. An autopsy is to be performed Tuesday morning in Newberry, according to a report from the coroner's office.
